How to Install a TurboGrafx CD on a PSP Slim

If you're using your PSP Slim to play homebrew games and TurboGrafx-16 emulators, you already know how much potential the system has above and beyond its out-of-the-box capacity. However, there are some games that are harder to emulate than others. Some of those are CD-based games, as they rely on patching the CD data so it can be read as a text file. TurboGrafx-16 CD games fall into this tricky category--the CD data for these games needs to be patched and installed on the PSP Slim's internal memory before they can be played on the system.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the TG-16 CD file you wish to play on your PSP Slim.

    • 2

Right-click on the file and select "Rename." Change the file name from "[Game Name].iso" to "[Game Name].txt."

    • 3

Download the TOC file for your game from the "PC-FX JPN" section of the site in the "Resources" section. Right-click the file and select "Open With" then choose "Notepad."

    • 4

Highlight all of the text in the Notepad file and right-click. Select "Copy."

    • 5

Open the TXT file created in Step 2. Place the cursor at the beginning of the text and right-click then select "Paste."

    • 6

Open the "File" menu and select "Save." Right-click the saved file and select "Rename," then change the file name from "[Game Name].txt" to "[Game Name].toc."

    • 7

Connect your PSP Slim to your computer using the system's USB cable. Turn the system on and select "USB Connect" from the "System" menu.

    • 8

Place the file created in Step 6 in the "CD Game" directory of your PSP's TG-16 emulator. If your PSP is not running a TG-16 emulator, you can download one from the site in the "Resources" section. Unzip the emulator and install all files to the "Game" folder of your PSP.

    • 9

Download the TG-16 CD-ROM System BIOS. Unzip and add to your TG-16's "CD Game" category.

    • 10

Eject and remove your PSP Slim and reset the console. Launch your TG-16 emulator from the "Game" section of the system's menu. To launch your CD game, run the file "Super CD-ROM System" and click the name of your CD game from the menu.
