How Do I Find Out the WEP Key on My Internet for PSP?

A WEP key is a security password placed on a wireless router to prevent outside users from connecting to your router and using your Internet connection. If you have set up security on your wireless router, you will need to enter the security key on your PSP in order to allow it access to an Internet connection through that router. If you have forgotten your WEP key, you will need to log into your router to find out what it is.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a web browser on the computer that is connected to your wireless router.

    • 2

Type your wireless router's IP address in the address bar of your browser. Each brand of router may have a different default IP address. If you do not know your router's IP address, you can usually find this information included in the documentation that came with your wireless router.

    • 3

Log into your wireless router with the router's administrator username and password. You may have assigned the router your own username and password when you set it up or you may have left the administrator account as the default. The documentation that came with your wireless router should tell you how to log in to your router as the default administrator if you did not change the account.

    • 4

Navigate to the "Wireless" menu of your router's setup and look for a "Security" section.

    • 5

Write down any password keys listed for the "WEP" security type. A WEP key will be a combination of letters and numbers. You will often have four different keys assigned to the WEP security.

    • 6

Enter one of the WEP security keys in your PSP's wireless Internet configuration to allow the system to connect into your wireless router.
