Instructions
Turn off the PSP Slim.
Ensure that there is no UMD (game disc) in the PSP Slim by pulling back the UMD drive cover on the top of the device and looking inside. If a UMD is present, take it out. If not, close the drive.
Locate the battery compartment on the left side of the back of the PSP Slim, press the battery cover release button and remove the cover. Lift the battery out of the compartment.
Locate the memory stick slot on the right side of the PSP Slim and flip out the memory stick cover. Press the memory stick in and release it and the memory stick will pop out. Pull it out of the slot.
Remove the sticker from the battery compartment to gain access to the screws underneath it. Once you remove this sticker, the warranty on the PSP Slim is voided, so ponder this stipulation before peeling off the sticker.
Extract the two screws in the battery compartment and the two screws on the right side of the PSP Slim.
Extract the two screws along the top and bottom of the PSP.
Remove the front cover.
Insert a flat-head screwdriver underneath left edge of the button bar beneath the screen and gently pry it up. Do the same on the right edge of the button bar and it will dangle from the PSP Slim.
Pry along the edges of the screen and then flip it down to expose the cables that run to the motherboard.
Disconnect the cables, and remove the screen and the button bar.
Extract seven screws from the display space. Two are found in the top-left corner, one in the top-right corner, one in the bottom-right corner and three in the bottom-left corner.
Remove the metal screen housing from the screen area and pop out the UMD door. Now you can take the screen housing completely off the PSP Slim.
Disconnect all the flat cables on the motherboard.
Extract the screw at the top-right corner of the motherboard.
Disconnect the flat cable on the directional pad and remove the directional pad.
Remove the button board on the right side of the PSP Slim and then remove the motherboard.
Extract the screw at the top-left corner of the PSP Slim and the one directly in the middle of the PSP Slim.
Extract the screw on the left side of the metal motherboard shield and on the bottom-left corner of the shield and then take out the shield.
Take out the black plastic piece on the left side of the PSP Slim.
Remove the memory stick reader system board.
Locate the UMD door tab at the bottom-left corner of the metal UMD shield in the display area and gently pry it toward the right. If you do it correctly, you can get the UMD door off the PSP Slim and keep the tab intact.
Turn the PSP Slim over and extract the four screws on the UMD shield.
Pry apart the UMD drive by inserting a flat-head screwdriver into the spaces at the corners of the drive and separating the two sides. Now the PSP Slim is completely disassembled.
Follow the steps in reverse order to put the PSP Slim back together.
