How to Mod a PS2 to Play Imported Games

The Sony PlayStation 2 is a next-generation home video game console. Sony released it with region restrictions, which means a North American PS2 cannot play Japanese region games and vice versa. There is a quick mod that you can do to any PS2 to allow it to play import games. HDLoader is the only PS2 program that installs games, imports and all, onto the PS2 hard drive. They then can be played from the HDD.

Turn on your Sony PS2 and wait for it to boot into the PS2 menu. Remove any disc that may be in the console. Insert the HDLoader program disk into the PS2 optical disc drive and select it from the menu to start.

Select "Install" on the HDLoader main menu and the program will ask you to remove the HDLoader disk, replacing it with the game you want to install. Remove the HDLoader disk and insert your import game.
