Power on your PSP without a game in the disc drive and press "right" until you reach the "Network" icon. If there's a Skype icon under the Network category, Skype already is installed on your PSP.
Connect your PSP's power adapter to the console and plug it into a working electrical outlet. The console needs to be fully charged before it can update. Leave the console plugged in during the update process.
Insert a Memory Stick Duo into the PSP's memory stick slot and power on the console.
Power on your Sony PSP without a UMD in the disc drive. This takes you to the PSP home menu.
Go to the "Settings" tab and select "System Update." Choose to "Update via Internet" and select your wireless network from the list provided. If you haven't set up your Internet connection, select "New Connection" and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to a nearby wireless network.
Download the latest firmware update. When the update finishes downloading, go to the "Game" icon on the PSP's home menu and select your Memory Stick. Press "X" and locate the update data. Then press "X" again to select it and start the update. The entire update process will take several minutes.
Go to the "Network" icon on the PSP home menu to find the "Skype" icon. Highlight it and press "X" to enter the Skype log-in screen.
