Things You'll Need
Instructions
Press any button on the console to wake it up. If the Auto-Sleep or Backlight Auto-off settings are enabled, the screen shuts off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity. Adjust both the Auto-Sleep and Backlight Auto-off functions by selecting "Power Options" under the "Settings" icon on the PSP's main menu.
Press the "Display" button on the console to adjust the screen brightness. This button is to the right of the "L" button on the PSPgo, and is on the right side of the "PSP" logo beneath the screen on older PSP models. You may have to press the button multiple times.
Move your PSP to a location that is at room temperature, if it previously was not. Wait 10 minutes so the console can adjust to the new climate before turning it on again. Extreme cold or direct sunlight can cause the screen to malfunction and will affect the display quality. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight can permanently damage your PSP's display.
Press and hold the power switch on the console for several seconds to turn it off. Press it up again to turn it back on.
Examine the display to see if it's working and check it carefully for cracks or damage. A cracked screen can turn black or completely malfunction. If your screen is cracked, you have to send your system in for repair or replacement.
Connect the console's power adapter to the power port and plug it into a wall outlet. Let the console charge for at least 15 minutes before trying to turn it on again. If the console is fully charged and powers on yet the screen still doesn't work, it needs repair.
