How to Use a PSP Slim As a Remote

The PSP is a hand-held video game system created by Sony. When used in conjunction with the PS3 gaming system, it can act as a remote control. This feature is referred to as "Remote Play." It allows the user to use the PSP to access the media files on the PS3 system. If you want to access remote play, you can do so easily by connecting to the PS3 over its wireless LAN.

Instructions

      Connect the PSP to the PS3 with the USB connection cable.

      Scroll to the left from the main menu of the PSP and select "Settings">"USB Connection."

      Select "Settings" from the PS3 menu and then "Remote Play Settings."

      Select "Register Device" by pressing the "X" button on the PS3.

      Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the device registration. When the registration is complete, remove the USB cable from the PSP and PS3.

      Select "Remote Play" under the "Network" menu on the PS3.

      Select "Remote Play" under "Network" on the PSP.

      Choose "Connect to Private Network," then "PlayStation(R)3." The PS3 screen will now be displayed on the PSP, where you can remotely control the PS3 to access all media files.
