How to Disassemble a PSP Slim 2000

The PSP Slim 2000 is Sony̵7;s second generation PSP, which was smaller and lighter than the original version. Unfortunately, technical problems still exist, as with all electronic devices. You may need to disassemble your PSP to perform repairs. Be aware that doing so will void your warranty.

      Remove any UMD discs in the disc drive and Memory Sticks in the Memory Stick slot.

      Open the battery bay and remove the PSP̵7;s battery.

      Remove the four screws on the back of the PSP with the Phillips screwdriver. Two are located inside the battery bay. One of those is located underneath the warranty sticker. Removing that sticker will void your warranty. The other two screws are located on the opposite end of the PSP.

      Remove the screw on the bottom of the PSP located next to the barcode.

      Remove the two screws on the top of the PSP located on either side of the USB port.

      Lift off the faceplate to reveal the inside of the PSP. Set the faceplate aside.

      Carefully pry off the button bar on the bottom of the LCD screen.

      Unhinge the clips that secure the LCD screen in place and lift the LCD screen out of the PSP. Disconnect the three cables that connect the screen to the motherboard to take it out. You PSP is now disassembled. You can repair or replace broken parts and reassemble it.
