How to Charge a Regular PSP With a USB Cable

The PSP game system comes with a rechargeable battery that's good for 10 hours before it needs to be recharged. You can use the included AC adapter and an electrical outlet to charge the battery. If that's not an option, it can be charged through the USB cable. The USB method is easy and only takes a few minutes to set up.

Instructions

Go to the "Settings" menu on the PSP XMB dashboard and select "USB Settings." On this screen, set the USB charge option to "On." Connect your PSP to the computer or PS3 using the USB cable.

    • 2

Check the PSP's LED power indicator. If it turns orange, the system is being charged. Leave the PSP to sit and charge or you can turn it on and use it. The battery will charge either way though the latter option will slow down the process.

Monitor the PSP's charge progress. If you're playing it, the LED power indicator will turn green. If not, the LED will just go out when the system is fully charged.
