How to Fix a Corrupted PSP

The Sony PlayStation Portable sometimes can become corrupted. This usually is from updating the PSP improperly. If this occurs, you either can return the device to Sony and wait for it to fix it, or you can use the Pandora battery and Magic memory stick combination to reflash the firmware onto the PSP motherboard.

Things You'll Need

Pandora battery
Magic memory stick

Instructions

  Remove the PSP battery and memory stick and place them to the side. You will use these again, but for now they are not needed.

  Insert the Magic memory stick followed by the Pandora battery. Press the "X" button to reflash the firmware to your PSP. When this is completed, press the "X" button once more to shut down the PSP.

  Remove the battery and memory stick and replace them with the normal ones you removed in Step 1. Turn your PSP back on and plug the charger into the PSP to make sure the update goes as planned.

  Select "System Update" and wait as your PSP is updated to the most recent PSP firmware. Your PSP should work again.
