How to Download PSP Games Online to My PSP

Most of the games for the Sony PSP are stored on self-contained discs called UMDs. However, the Playstation Network online store also contains a huge number of PSP-compatible games, including classics from the original Playstation, available for download to the PSP. You can download these games straight to the MemoryStik Duo, provided it has enough storage space on it.

Things You'll Need

  • Sony PSP console
  • MemoryStik Duo
  • Wireless Internet access
  • PlaystationNetwork account
  • Credit card
  • Sony PS3 (optional)

If you haven't connected to the Internet with your PSP before, select "[New connection]" and follow the on-screen prompts to set up the Internet connection. You'll have to first "scan" for your wireless network, input any passwords or security keys, and then select the "Address Settings." Once you have tested or selected the connection, connect to the store.

Select "Downloadable Games" or "PSone Classics" to browse the selection of downloadable games for the PSP. Downloadable games are organized into "PSP Games," "PlaystationNetwork Exclusives" (titles you can only find in this store, not in retail stores), and "Minis" (small, more casual games.) You can also find a host of free game demos under the "Demos" section.

Scroll through the list of available games until you see one you would like to play. Press "X" to bring up the details screen and read about the game. From here, you can either "Buy Now" or "Add to Cart." If you would like to continue shopping, select "Add to Cart" and "Return to shopping."
