Things You'll Need
Instructions
Remove the five screws holding the black faceplate onto the PSP using a Phillips head screwdriver. Four are located inside the battery compartment, and one is along the bottom edge. Keep these screws in a safe place as they are small and difficult to replace. Remove the faceplate.
Take out the main circuit board located underneath the LCD screen, and carefully detach the cables that connect it to the rest of the PSP.
Open the small clip that joins the metal cover on the power switch with the edge of your flat head screwdriver. Remove the spring once you have exposed the switch.
Detach the plastic coverings on the metal tabs and the switch itself with your wire snips. Then, using a soldering iron, desolder the tabs holding down the switch, and remove it.
Set the replacement switch in the same position as the older one, making sure the metal tabs are in the same grooves as before. Solder these tabs in place.
Return the cables you detached in Step 2, set the circuit board back into the PSP, and return the faceplate to your PSP.
Make sure your PSP is fully charged, and test the switch.
