How to Upload Music Onto My PSP Using a USB Cable

The Sony PlayStation Portable not only plays 3D video games but also can display pictures and movies and play music. If you have MP3 music files saved on your computer, you can transfer them to your PSP using just a USB cable and a memory stick. Once transferred, you'll have access to your music on the go directly from your PSP.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your PSP to your computer using the USB cable and the two devices' respective USB ports. The small end of the USB cable plugs into the PSP while the larger end plugs into the computer's USB port.

    • 2

Insert your memory stick into your PSP's memory card slot and power on the device.

    • 3

Scroll to "Settings" on the XrossMediaBar and press "X."

    • 4

Scroll down to "USB Connection" and press "X."

    • 5

Enter the "My Computer" or "Computer" folder on your computer and you should see the PSP's memory stick labeled under "Drives with Removable Storage." The computer treats it like a standard flash drive. Enter the PSP memory stick's folder.

    • 6

Right-click on the window and highlight "New," then select "Folder" and name the folder "MUSIC."

    • 7

Drag and drop (or copy and paste) all of your music files into the "MUSIC" folder. Upon disconnecting your PSP from the computer, you should have access to the music on your portable device.
