How to Put MP4 Videos Onto the PSP

The Sony PSP is not just a handheld gaming console, but a portable media center capable of playing games, music, pictures and displaying movies. The movies the PSP is capable of playing are known as MP4 movies, a common format among downloaded videos. If you have some MP4 videos on your computer that you'd like to play on your PSP so you can watch them on the go, transferring them to your system is a very quick and easy task.

  • Memory stick with available space
  • USB cable
  • PC with MP4 videos

Instructions

      Connect the PSP to the computer using the USB cable. The small end of the USB cable goes into the PSP's USB port while the large end goes into the computer's USB port.

      Inset the memory stick into the PSP and power on the device if you have not done so already.

      Scroll down to "USB Connections" on your PSP and press "X."

      Access the PSP's main folder using your computer. You can access it by selecting "Start," then "Computer," then clicking the PSP's folder, which will be labeled under the "Drives With Removable Storage" category.

      Create a folder in the PSP's folder and name it "MP_ROOT." You can create a new folder by right-clicking the screen and selecting "New Folder."

      Enter the "MP_ROOT" folder and create another folder called "100MNV01."

      Copy (or cut) and paste any MP4 video files into the "100MNV01" folder. Upon disconnecting your PSP from your computer you should be able to access your videos on the device.
