How to Put DivX Movies on Your PSP

The PlayStation Portable can play video files that are stored on the memory stick. Supported formats include MP4, H.264, and AVI. To play DivX files on your PSP, you will first need to convert them to a compatible format. Once converted, you can transfer the video file to your PSP and play it just like any other file.

Instructions

  1. Convert

      Download and install PSP Video 9.

      Open PSP Video 9 and select the "Convert" tab in the tool bar at the top of the window.

      Select "Normal Mode" to convert the video with normal settings.

      Click the "Select File" button and select the DivX video that you want to convert.

      Select the output directory for the new file. This is where the new file will be placed once it has been converted. The default folder is the "Red Kawa" folder within your "My Documents" folder. You can change this if you wish. Click the "Next" button.

      Title your new file. The default title name will be the files previous title. Click "Next."

      Select your video settings. Depending on what type of computer you have, you may want to balance the speed of the conversion with the quality of the file. Click "Next."

      Click the "Start Converting" button to start the conversion.

    Transfer to PSP

      Connect your PSP to your PC with the USB cable.

      Power on your PSP and select the "USB Connection" option in the "Settings" tab.

      Open the "My Computer" folder on your PC and open you PSP, which is listed under "Devices with Removable Storage."

      Create a "PSP" folder with a "VIDEOS" subfolder on your PSP device.

      Copy the converted DivX file into the "VIDEOS" folder.

      Exit USB mode and disconnect your PSP. You will be able to watch the converted video from the "Videos" tab on your PSP.
