Things You'll Need
Instructions
Insert the Memory Stick Duo into the port on the lower left edge of your PSP Fat console. Your memory stick must have sufficient free space to accommodate the AVI file you're transferring. Under the "Video"option on your PSP's main menu, double check the "Memory Stick" option to ensure you have enough space.
Connect your PSP to your PC using the USB cable. Scroll to the left side of the PSP's main menu and select the "USB Mode" option. You will see a confirmation screen indicating your PSP is in this mode and communicating with your home computer. Files can now be transferred from your PC to your PSP.
The AVI format video file is compatible with the Sony PSP Fat, so you don't have to convert the file before transferring. Right click on the video file on your computer and select "Properties" to make sure it's an AVI video file type. Keep the file location handy.
On your computer's main drive, select the icon where your PSP appears as a removable drive. Open this directory, and then double click on the "VIDEO" folder. Drag and drop the AVI video file from the directory in which it is stored on your home computer into the PSP's "VIDEO" folder. The transfer process may take several minutes depending on the file size.
After the AVI file is transferred to your PSP's "VIDEO" directory, safely remove the USB cable from your PC and from your PSP. Take your PSP out of "USB Mode" and go to the main menu icon entitled "Video." Under the "Memory Stick" option, you will now see your transferred AVI file, ready for playback on your PSP Fat system.
