Setting up Remote Play
Plug the included USB cable into a spare USB port on the front of the PS3 console. Attach the other end to the port on the top of the PSP console.
Switch on both consoles. Press the "Home" button on the PSP to return to the home menu.
Navigate right on the PSP menu to the "Settings" option, then scroll up to "USB Connection."
Navigate to the "Settings" section of the PS3 home menu, and scroll down to "Remote Play Settings."
Highlight "Register device" and press "X" on the PS3 controller to select it.
Choose "PSP" from the available options, then press "X". Follow the on-screen prompts to make the connection and change any settings.
Wait for the two consoles to register each other. A message of "Register completed" will appear. If you have used the PSP on another network, it will ask you to confirm and overwrite the pairing with the previous PS3 system.
Using Remote Play
Turn on the PSP and PS3 consoles, then press the "Home" button on the PSP to return to the home menu.
Navigate to "Network" on the PSP menu and scroll up to "Remote play." Press "X" to select. Choose "Connect via private network" then scroll down to "PlayStation 3" and press "X".
Navigate to "Network" on the PS3 and select "Remote Play."
Wait for the connection to be established. You will see the screen on the PS3 go blank or say "Remote Play in progress." The PSP screen will display your PS3's home menu. You can now navigate through the available options. If you try to play something that remote play cannot handle, you will receive an error message indicating that "This content is not compatible with remote play."
Close the remote play connection by pressing the PSP's "Home" button and selecting "End remote play."
