Installing Custom Firmware
Turn off your Sony PSP and remove the battery and Memory Stick from the appropriate bays on the PSP. The battery bay is located on the rear and the Memory Stick bay is located on the side of the PSP. If you are already running custom firmware, proceed directly to Section 2 of this guide.
Insert your Magic Memory Stick into the PSP first. The order of this is important, or it will not work properly. Insert your Pandora battery into the PSP battery bay, and the PSP will turn on without you physically touching any buttons.
Wait as the screen populates with white text. You can do a few things here, but what you should concentrate on is the option for installing "CFW" (custom firmware). This is usually the option marked "X," but it can sometimes be the "Circle" option.
Press the appropriate button to begin the CFW installation. This means press the "X" or "Circle" button (whichever symbol is located next to the option) and wait as your PSP is updated to custom firmware.
Press "X" when the Pandora program tells you to to power down the PSP. Remove the battery and Memory Stick and reinsert your normal ones. Turn on your PSP.
Ripping a UMD movie to the PSP
Insert your UMD movie into the PSP and push the "Select" button on the PSP gamepad. The visual shell menu now will appear. Select the "USB Mode" selection until it reads "UMD drive."
Connect your PSP to your computer using the USB cable. A window will appear on your computer. You will see one file. This is the ISO file that is on the UMD disk. Right-click this file and click "Copy." Click onto another location on your computer, right-clicking and clicking "Paste." Wait as the ISO file is copied to the computer.
Disconnect your PSP safely by pressing the "Circle" button on the PSP. Press the "Select" button again and change the USB mode back to "Memory Stick" and reconnect the PSP back to the computer. A window will appear again, but this time you will see the files on your memory stick. Open the "ISO" folder on the PSP Memory Stick and copy/paste the ISO into the "Video" folder inside.
Disconnect the PSP safely when the transfer is complete. Go to the video section of the PSP menu and select the video to play.
