Moding the PSP
Download a custom firmware file from a PSP moding website to the computer's desktop, for example, the PSP 3.80 M33-2 firmware (see the link in Resources). Double-click on the firmware file when it has downloaded to decompress it to a folder on the desktop. Restart the PC.
Connect the PSP connector of the PSP-to-USB cable to the PSP. Connect the other end of the PSP-to-USB cable to a USB port on the computer.
Insert a PSP memory stick into the PSP's memory stick slot. Turn on the PSP. Navigate from the Home menu to "Settings." Select "USB mode" from beneath "Settings." Press the "X" button to activate the USB mode.
Wait for the icon of the PSP's memory stick to appear on the computer's desktop.
Double-click on the firmware folder to open its window. Double-click on the firmware program inside of the folder to launch it.
Click on the "load EBOOT" button on the program's main screen. Click on the drop-down menu below the "load EBOOT" button and select "4.01 OFW/M33-2."
Click on the "Target drive" button. Navigate in the window that appears to the PSP's memory stick. Highlight the PSP's memory stick by clicking on it once. Close the window by clicking on "Open."
Click on the "Make MMS" button at the bottom of the firmware program's main screen. Quit the program when the confirmation window appears saying that the program is done.
Right-click on the icon of the PSP memory stick that is on the desktop. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu.
Disconnect the PSP-to-USB cable from the PSP and from the USB port of the computer. Turn off the PSP.
Put the towel down on a table. Put the PSP face down on the towel.
Remove the battery compartment lid from the left side of the battery compartment with your fingers. Pull out the Sony PSP battery from inside of the battery compartment with your fingers.
Insert the Pandora modification battery purchased from a PSP moding supply store into the battery compartment. Put the battery compartment lid back onto the battery compartment.
Turn the PSP over on the towel. Turn on the PSP. Wait for the modification menu to appear on the screen. Follow the menu prompts to install the firmware onto the PSP. Wait for the PSP to turn itself off when the installation is completed.
Turn the PSP face down on the towel. Remove the battery compartment lid from the left side of the battery compartment with your fingers.
Pull out the Pandora modification battery from inside of the battery compartment with your fingers and replace it with the Sony PSP battery.
Close the battery compartment lid on the battery compartment. Turn the PSP over on the towel. Turn the PSP on.
Navigate to "Network" and select "Internet browser." Enter "PMP-VLC" into the "Search" field. Select "PMP-VLC" from the list presented below the "Search" field.
Press "X" to download and install the "PMP-VLC" program. Turn off the PSP once the "PMP-VLC" program has been installed.
Preparing the TV Video
Download the VLC program to the computer's desktop (see the link in Resources). Double-click on the program's icon once it has downloaded. Follow the menu prompts to install the program onto the PC's hard drive.
Download and install the TVUPlayer program to your computer's desktop (see the link in Resources). Double-click on the program's icon once it has downloaded. Follow the menu prompts to install a folder onto the PC's hard drive. Restart the PC.
Double-click on the TVUPlayer program inside the folder on the desktop. Select a channel to watch from the list provided on the left side of the program's main screen. Wait as the video stream begins to play.
Double-click on the "Readme" file inside of the folder on the desktop. Wait for the file to come up in the text editor program.
Highlight the line of computer code listed in the "Readme" file by clicking on the mouse and dragging it across the line of computer code. Press "Cntrl+C" to copy the line of computer code to the computer's clipboard.
Run the VLC program. Click on 'File" and select "Open Network Stream." Click on the "Settings" tab in the new window that appears. Place the cursor inside the first text line of the new window that appears. Press "Ctrl" and "V" to copy the code into the text line. Click on "OK" to close the window.
Enter the IP address of the wireless home network router, listed on the bottom of the router, into the "URL" text column of the window that is still on the screen, followed by ":8901" without the quotes. Click on "OK" to close the window.
Turn on the PSP. Slide the network switch at the lower left corner up to turn on the wireless networking. Navigate from the "Home" menu to "Network." Select PMP-VLC from the list presented below "Network."
Wait for the PMP-VLC program to run. Press the "Select" button on the PSP. Scroll down the screen to "Live Stream" and press the "X" button on the PSP. Wait as the program captures the TV video being streamed from the wireless home network and displays it on the PSP screen.
