The Sony PSP is a portable video game device that was released in 2005. It is frequently updated via the online "Sony Updater," which installs the most recent copy of the Sony PSP firmware.       Turn on your PSP and connect it to your computer. A window will appear allowing access to the PSP memory stick. Copy all of the information off of the PSP onto your computer. Press the "O" button to disconnect the PSP from the computer.

      Turn on your Sony PSP and go to the "Settings" page of the PSP menu, which is called the "XMB."

      Locate the "System Settings" page and select "Format Memory Stick" to completely erase the information on the memory stick. The memory stick will also be repartitioned, fixing the PSP file system.

      Reconnect your PSP to your computer and copy the information back onto your PSP memory stick.
