How to Access WEP Secured Internet on a PSP

The Playstation Portable (PSP) is the hand held gaming system developed by Sony. It is capable of playing a library UMD games as well as movies and audio files. The PSP is also capable of connecting to the Internet through wireless access points. Typically these secured connections will have a wired equivalent privacy (WEP) key enabled. In order to connect to these types of wireless connections you must modify the settings of your PSP and enter the needed WEP password.

      Turn on the wireless network adapter by pushing the button up. You will find this switch on the lower left part of the PSP near the analog stick.

      Wait for the PSP to detect any nearby wireless networks. Then press the "Home" button to go to the home menu screen and scroll all the way down the list until you see "Network Settings." Then press the "X" button to access it.

      Press "X" to select "Infrastructure" for your network settings. Then press the "O" button to go back to the previous screen.

      Navigate to "New Connection" and press the "X" button. Then press "X" again to type in a name for your connection. Afterwards, select "Scan for WLAN" as the connection setting. Press right on the directional pad which will begin scanning the area for available networks.

      Scroll through the list of available networks by using your D-pad. Press "X" to access the one you want then go to the "Security Settings." Scroll down to find "WEP" and press the "X" button to select it.

      Enter the "WEP" key of the secured network when prompted to type it in. Press "X" to confirm the password, then press right on the D-pad to confirm the settings and connect to your secured Internet network.
