How to Change the Battery on a PSP

Like all rechargeable devices, after multiple charges the PlayStation Portable's battery starts to wear down and limits the amount of hours you can play on your PSP. After a couple of years, you will need to replace your PSP battery. If you don't, then your PSP will no longer be portable. Changing your PSP's battery is easy and will help you prolong your PSP's playing life.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your PlayStation Portable. The off button, on your PSP, is located on the right edge of the PSP.

    • 2

Take off the back. Expose the used battery by simply sliding the left piece of the back cover off.

    • 3

Take out the battery. The battery might be a bit stubborn, because it fits into the PSP like a puzzle. Use a tool, such as a butter knife or a key, to pull the battery up and out of the PSP.

    • 4

Place the new one into the PSP. Like before, the new battery will fit into the PSP like a puzzle piece.

    • 5

Re-cover the PSP with the unattached cover and turn on the PSP.
