How to Convert a Metal Gear Solid to PSP

Firmware is what runs your many electronic devices. Custom firmware is firmware created by everyday users. Having a Sony PSP that is running custom firmware allows you to do much more with your device. Maybe the most important feature is the ability to play your old PSX games that you already own. Custom firmware is completely legal, but it will void your warranty. The installation of custom firmware cannot be discussed here, but the process is quite simple.

Instructions

Download and install "ISOBuster" and "PSX2PSP" from the resource section of this guide. Both pieces of software are unique to this guide and cannot be substituted. Place your Metal Gear Solid PSX game into your computer's disc drive. Open ISOBuster and your disc drive will be viewable from the main menu.

    • 2

Right-click the disc drive and click "Extract CD Raw." A window will appear allowing you to select a place to save the extracted CD files. Click "Save" to verify the location. Wait as the game is extracted to the location you specified. There will be a .BIN and a .CUE file. Add ."ISO" to the end of the .BIN file to allow PSX2PSP to recognize it.

    • 3

Open PSX2PSP and you will be greeted with its graphical menu. Click the first box, which is "ISO/PBP File," and a window will appear. Browse to where the BIN.ISO file is and load it into PSX2PSP. Click "Output PBP Folder" and select a place to save the new file. Click "Convert" and the BIN.ISO file will be converted into PSP format.
