PSP Car Racing Games

With a 4.3 inch widescreen display, racing games on the PSP can look as good (if not better) than their console counterparts. The PSP has a large selection of racing games, the majority of which contain multiplayer options and enhancements not found on the other consoles.
  1. Need for Speed ProStreet

    • Need for Speed ProStreet is one of the many "Need for Speed" games on the PSP. Stepping away from the "Underground" theme of previous games, ProStreet returns to more traditional single track racing. ProStreet does retain the customization options traditional to the NFS series. As players progress through the game by winning races, they will be awarded points that can be used to upgrade cars. New to ProStreet is "Driver Intuition," a feature that rewards good driving with additional boost (similar to nitrous).

    Cars

    • Based on the movie of the same name, Cars is an arcade style racing game that focuses more on entertainment than simulation. Cars is available on a variety of gaming platforms, however, the PSP version was built from the ground up, making it an entirely different game. The PSP versions focuses more on a linear story and progression, as opposes to having the player roam around an open world. There are 25 racing events including single races, six-car races, and more challenging one-on-one races. There is also a multiplayer component that allows multiple PSPs to connect wirelessly to play a handful of game modes designed specifically for multiplayer.

    Midnight Club: Los Angeles Remix

    • Midnight Club: Los Angeles Remix is another additional to the popular "Midnight Club" franchise. Exotic cars, street racing and an overall underground vibe have always been trademarks of the Midnight Club games. Los Angeles Remix brings more of the same, but this time, with an emphasis on speed. Contrary to its name, Los Angeles Remix also lets players race in various sections of Tokyo. Multiplayer (local only, no online) options are plentiful, allowing up to four players to play regular races, capture the flag, and variations of those games via an in-depth customization tool.
