How to Create Access Point for PSP Using WiFi Adapter

If your computer has a Wi-Fi adapter and you have a PSP, you can connect your PSP to the Internet through your computer. This is especially useful if you do not have a wireless router, or if the router is out of range of where you use your PSP most of the time. By using a system service application, you can connect your PSP to the Internet and play games online with your friends in a short period of time.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install "Connectify" from the resource section of this guide. Connectify is free software that turns your computer's Wi-Fi card into a wireless hotspot. To open Connectify, go to the notification tray icon that Connectify installed. The notification area of your computer is where your system clock is located. Click the Connectify radio wave icon to open its settings.

Name your Wi-Fi hotspot by typing it into the "Wi-Fi Name" box. Enter a password in the next box. This is the password people will need to use when they connect to your hotspot. Select the Internet connection that you want to use to create the hotspot. If your computer is connected to the Internet with a wire going from the router into the computer, select Local Area Connection. If you are connected wirelessly, select Wireless Internet Connection. Press the "Refresh" button at the top right of the settings page.

Turn on your PSP. Navigate to the network settings page on the left side of the PSP menu. Select "New Connection" and "Infrastructure Mode." Click the "Scan" button and select the Wi-Fi name from Connectify.

Enter in the password that you created and press the "Right" button on the directional pad. Press "X" to test the Internet connection. Press the "O" button to exit out of the Internet setup page and you will now be connected to the Internet with your PSP.
