How to Download Homebrew for the PSP

The PlayStation Portable (PSP) homebrew scene is one of the most devoted out there. Homebrew is user-created applications that run on many different devices, and in this case, the PSP. Homebrew is completely legal, and so is the custom firmware that runs it. Firmware is what runs the PSP, and custom firmware is made by users, much like homebrew is. Using custom firmware is also completely legal.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to one of the sites listed in the Resources section below and download all the homebrew software that you want, then save it to your computer.

    • 2

Connect your PSP to your computer with the supplied USB cable. Your PSP will automatically go into USB mode and will display a window on your computer giving you access to the PSP memory stick.

    • 3

Go into the PSP folder, and you will see a few game folders. One will be called "Game," and another will be called "Game150." You might also have a folder named "Game3XX" or "Game5XX" depending on which firmware you are running.

Copy your homebrew games into the "Game" folder and wait as they transfer. Once they have completed, disconnect your PSP from your computer by simply removing the USB cable from the PSP.

Navigate through the PSP menu until you get to the game section. You will now be able to see the homebrew game in the PSP's menu. Select it and play.
