List of Sony PSP Parts

They Sony PSP is a very sophisticated piece of handheld gaming technology. It is a pocket sized media player capable of playing music, movies and an entire catalog of new and classic PlayStation games. There are many individual parts that go into making a PSP, and each one has its role in creating a complete and cohesive portable gaming device.

    Motherboard

    • This is the heart of the PSP. It is where the CPU and GPU are located, as well as the Wi-Fi receiver and memory card slot. Everything that goes into the PSP somehow connects to the motherboard and the motherboard controls everything in your PSP. It is the central brain of the entire unit.

    • This is the joystick of the PSP. It is a separate unit that attaches to the motherboard to give you a compact analog joypad.

    Control Pad

    • The control pad, like the joypad, is a separate unit that functions as the up, down, left, and right buttons. It connects to the motherboard.

    Front Bezel

    • This is the faceplate of the PSP. It holds the unit together and has the "Circle," "Box," "Triangle" and "X" buttons. It also has a plastic screen to protect the LCD screen.

    UMD Door

    • This door attaches the rear of the PSP and is where the UMDs are loaded. It opens and closes to secure and protect discs.

    Battery Door

    • This detachable door houses the battery. It is located on the back of the PSP.

    1800mAh Hi-Capacity PSP Battery

    • This is the lifeline of the PSP. It is what powers it and keeps the PSP running when there is no power adapter plugged in.
