How to Put PSP Slim in Recovery Mode

If your PSP will not boot up or it boots into an endless cycle of the Sony logo, you'll need to get into your PSP "Recovery" menu. To do this, you have to have custom firmware installed on your PSP. Custom firmware allows you to open new doors for your PSP by running code that's not signed by Sony. This is completely legal, however, and it actually helps developers create new PSP games.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your PSP off if it isn't already by sliding the "Power" button up until the screen goes black. Unplug your A/C adapter so the PSP doesn't charge when entering the "Recovery" menu. Locate the right trigger on your PSP and hold it down.

    • 2

Slide the "Power" button up while still holding the right trigger on your PSP. Hold the "Power" button up until the PSP turns on. You'll be greeted by the "Recovery" menu of the PSP̵2;the menu will either be in red or green text.

    • 3

Push the digital game pads up and down to navigate through the PSP "Recovery" menu. Select an item to be given further options that will help you fix your PSP and make it operable once again. When you're finished, press "Exit" on the main "Recovery" menu.
