PSP Games for Toddlers

Sony̵7;s hand-held PSP platform currently has no games rated EC for early childhood. Such games are most suitable for children and toddlers age 3 and up and contain no material that parents would find objectionable or deem inappropriate. There are, however, a number of games rated E for everyone, which are acceptable for children age 6 and older. These games contain minimal cartoon violence and infrequent use of mild language. Parents may wish to screen these games before allowing younger children to play them.
  1. SpongeBob's Truth or Square

    • This game will allow your child to play as the popular cartoon character, SpongeBob Squarepants. The premise of the game is fairly simple: SpongeBob has lost a recipe that he must recover. In order to do so, he must rely on Plankton̵7;s memory machine and relive the happiest times of his life. The game does have some animated violence, but it is always humorous in tone. The game also allows your child to morph SpongeBob into various fun shapes throughout the game. Gameplay is fairly straightforward and easy to grasp. SpongeBob̵7;s Truth or Square is rated E for everyone.

    LocoRoco

    • LocoRoco and LocoRoco II are simple, light-hearted games that most children will enjoy playing. They rely on easy, instinctive game play that most children will adapt to very quickly. The games will require your child to move the LocoRoco, a happy race of alien beings, through various mazes and puzzle-like, tilting platforms. Both games are rated E for everyone.

    Little Big Planet

    • Little Big Planet for PSP is an entertaining game for young children that allows them to play over 35 levels, collecting such things as prize bubbles and costumes. They will also be able to create their own materials. The child plays as Sackboy, who gets lost in Australia and somehow ends up building a theme park. They̵7;ll also be able to customize their Sackboy any way they choose and share their creations with other players. Little Big Planet is rated E.

    N+

    • N+ is a game with extremely basic graphics that has a simple objective: use your character to collect as much gold as possible. Think of Pac-Man as an extremely fast, agile ninja, and you have the general idea of this game. N+ does require good reflexes and some degree of dexterity, so very young children may have difficulty manipulating the controls. Otherwise, N+ is an excellent game for children. N+ is rated E.

    Lumines

    • Lumines and Lumines II offer another modern take on an old classic, Tetris. The game is based on the same idea; fitting various geometric shapes, as well as colors, together in order to score and move up through the levels. Lumines also offers new music and sound effects for each level. Once again, extremely young children lack the motor skills necessary for the game. Lumines and Lumines II are rated E.
