How to Remove a PSP Analog Stick

Sony has a real winner in its portable gaming device, the PSP. The PSP is not only capable of scratching that video game itch, but can also be used to play movies and music. In the event you get a little too intense when playing games and break the analog gaming stick, rest assured Sony has made it very easy to replace that and other overused parts of the PSP.

Things You'll Need

Small Phillips screwdriver
Replacement analog assembly

Instructions

  Turn off your PSP, removing the battery cover and battery in the process. There are five screws that need to be removed in order to loosen the PSP cover, which is what is covering the analog assembly.

  Remove the two screws underneath the battery. Place those screws to the side. Remove the two screws on the opposite side of the battery. Remove the final screw on the bottom edge of the PSP. Keep the screws together, making sure not to lose any of them.

  Grip the PSP on both sides and pull it apart to remove the PSP cover. You will now be able to see the analog assembly. This can be removed simply by popping it out.

  Once the analog assembly is out, you can place the new one in and replace the cover. Tighten the screws and test out the PSP to make sure the new analog joystick works.
