Sometimes, often due to simple wear and tear, your Sony PSP needs to be fixed. The joystick can be especially prone to damage; get a little too rough with it during game play, and it can actually break off. Instructions

Remove the PSP battery cover and you will see two screws. Remove these screws and also remove the two on the other side of the PSP. The last screw is located on the bottom edge of the PSP. Remove that one and place the five screws aside.

    • 2

Gently lift the PSP cover off of the PSP. It comes off very easily. You will now be able to see the motherboard of the PSP, as well as other parts. The PSP joystick assembly comes right out of the PSP. Remove that by simply unplugging it.

Plug your new PSP joystick assembly into the spot from which you just removed the old, broken one. Turn the PSP on and make sure it works. Turn the PSP off after confirmation and place the cover back onto the PSP. Replace the screws and tighten.
