Rub the AC socket and the power plug of the PSP charger with the dry washcloth to remove any dirt or debris that might have accumulated.
Put a towel down on a work surface. Put the PSP face down on the clean towel. Remove the battery compartment from the back of the PSP and remove the battery. Replace the battery compartment and turn the PSP face up on the towel. Plug in the PSP charger's power plug into the PSP and the AC plug of the PSP charger into the wall socket. Turn the PSP on by sliding the "Power/Hold" switch up and releasing it. See if the power indicator light goes on.
Check that the PSP is not locked in the "Hold" mode by sliding the "Power/Hold" switch up and holding it there until the power indicator light goes off and the PSP screen goes black. Plug the PSP charger's power plug into the PSP and the AC plug of the PSP charger into the wall socket and turn the PSP on by sliding the "Power/Hold" switch up and releasing it.
Inspect the PSP charger's power plug and AC plug for damage or defective wiring. If damage or defective wiring is found, the PSP charger must be discarded and a new one purchased.
Plug the PSP charger's power plug into the PSP and the AC plug of the PSP charger into the wall socket. Turn the PSP on by sliding the "Power/Hold" switch up and releasing it. If the power indicator light comes on, jiggle the wiring of the PSP charger's power plug to see if the power indicator light goes off. If the power indicator light goes off, there is a short in the power plug's wiring.
