How Do I Download Music Videos Onto My PSP?

Given the Play Station Portable's--or PSP's--large screen and excellent graphics capability, it serves as an amazing portable video player. In order to download music videos to it, you merely need a memory stick of sufficient size and the PSP's USB cable. The media player is already built into the PSP, so once videos have been downloaded to it, it will play them without any other work.

Memory Stick
- Sony uses its own special type of memory card called a memory stick, which must be formatted properly to work. Do this by inserting the memory stick into the PSP and going to the "Home" button on the bottom left of the screen and navigating to the "Settings" option. Once there, look for the "System Settings" icon and select it. Next, navigate to the "Format Memory Stick" option and press the "X" button. After a confirmation question, the actual formatting should take about half a minute.
Downloading Files to the PSP
- Once you have downloaded your favorite music videos onto your computer, the process for getting them onto the PSP is relatively simple. Simply connect your PSP to the computer via the supplied USB cable. Once connected, navigate to the "Home" menu on your PSP and find the "Settings" menu. Note that so far this is the same path you followed to format the memory stick. Once at the "Settings" menu, selected the USB Connection option and it should pop up the memory stick folder on your computer screen.
  
  Once the memory stick folder is open, find the file named "MP_Root>100MNV01." This is the file you will copy and paste your music videos into. If it's not there, don't be afraid to create it manually. Copy and paste the videos you'd like on your PSP into this folder.
Video Format
- Videos need to be in the M4V format to play on a PSP. If you downloaded music videos from licensed PSP download sites, this shouldn't be a problem. However, if you've downloaded videos from another legal source, they may be in any number of file formats. You can convert these files into M4V with one of several video formatting software suites, such as ImTOO PSP Music Suite.
