How to Format a PSP Memory Card

Sony's PlayStation Portable uses a memory stick as its main storage source. You can connect the PSP to a computer using a USB cable, or by inserting the memory stick directly into the computer's card reader using an adapter. Either way, copying those pictures and videos from the computer over to the memory stick will sometimes cause conflicts. It's even possible for a virus to find its way onto the memory stick, messing files up without your knowledge. A simple reformat will fix those problems and provide you with a clean memory stick.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the memory stick into the PSP, and press the "Home" button.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Settings" window, then choose "System Settings."

    • 3

Choose the "Format Memory Stick" option and confirm "yes" when asked "Do you want to format the Memory Stick?"

    • 4

After a few moments the formatting should finish, and you will be able to transfer files again without any problems.
