    • 4

Select from the Midnight Club: L.A. Remix start menu to start a new game, perhaps choosing Arcade, where you can do quick-play races. How to Play

    • 6

Press the X button to accelerate your vehicle, the triangle button for braking and reversing, and the R1 button for the handbrake. Pressing the square will ignite your nitro boost, if your car has one; the O button will access the car's special maneuvers based on the class of the car. Steer your car using the PSP analog stick, or nub. Special maneuvers include move, which slows time, agro, which boosts strength, and roar, which clears your path.

    • 7

Flash your lights at potential racers by pressing up on the PSP directional pad (D-pad). This will start a mini-race between you and the other racer; you can bypass this and head straight to the start line, but winning the mini-race will raise your rep slightly.

    • 8

Win races and accumulate a reputation, or rep, to advance in the game. Unlock the Tokyo level, win cars and eventually defeat Career mode. You also accumulate money to upgrade your car's appearance, speed, acceleration and handling.
