How to Put Pictures, Movies & Songs on Your PSP

The Sony PlayStation Portable can play video games, as well as read image, music and video files. Sony's PSP Media Manager software, released in 2006, provides an easy way to transfer files between your computer and the PSP.In 2009, Media Go replaced the Media Manager. It has the same features as the old program, but is also compatible with other Sony portable devices and provides direct access to the PlayStation Store.

      Visit sonycreativesoftware.com and download the free Sony Media Go software. It allows you to add games, music and other media to your PlayStation Portable console Media Go is an official Sony product released for use with the PSP.

      Install the Media Go software on your computer and launch the program. When you run the software for the first time, the Media Go Setup Assistant automatically appears.

      Follow the prompts in the Media Go Setup Assistant to find music, pictures and video files on your computer. These will be added to the Media Go library for easy access. If you wish to monitor only selected folders on your computer, select "File" from the main menu, then "Library Folders." Click on the "Add Folder" button, choose the desired folders and click "OK."

      Connect your PSP to the computer using its USB cable.

      Power on your PSP, navigate to the "Settings" menu and select "USB connection." The PSP will enter USB mode. A small icon with the name of your PSP will appear in the Media Go library navigation pane. Beneath the PSP icon are sub-directories for music, videos, games and the other media types stored on your console.

      Select the files you want to transfer to your PSP. To select multiple files at once, hold down "Shift" on your keyboard, click on the first file and then the last file.

      Drag and drop the selected media files to the appropriate PSP sub-directory in the library navigation pane. You can also right-click on the selected files and select "Transfer" from the drop-down menu. An animated icon will appear to show that the files are transferring; it disappears when the transfer is complete.

      Once the files are transferred, right-click on your PSP in the library navigation pane. Select "Disconnect Device" from the drop-down menu.
