Things You'll Need
Instructions
Disconnect and remove all accessories attached to your PSP. Eject any UMD discs and memory sticks inside the console. Remove the battery from the back of the PSP and leave the battery cover off.
Lay your PSP on a flat surface, face up. Remove the circular nub on the top of the analog stick by pulling the top of the stick away from the system while gently tilting it at an angle.
Turn your PSP over and locate five screws that are holding the casing together. Four of these screws are in each corner of the PSP and one is located on the bottom edge.
Remove the warranty sticker covering the screw on the bottom left of the PSP using tweezers.
Remove each of the screws of the console with your Phillips screwdriver. All of the screws are the same size, so they can be placed together away from your work surface.
Turn the PSP over without opening it up by holding the two halves of the casing together. Once the PSP is on its back, remove the faceplate from the system.
Insert a flat head screwdriver into the area beneath one of the four clips that keep the screen attached to the console. There are two clips on the left side of the screen and two clips on the right.
Tilt the screwdriver gently toward the center of the screen. The clip should release and shift slightly outward. You will feel the PSP screen loosen. Repeat this step with the remaining clips.
Bring the PSP screen forward so it is laying face down. There will be two brown cables keeping the screen connected to the circuits of the PSP. These cables are part of the screen, so they will be replaced by the cables on the new screen.
Push the clasps that attach the cables to the circuit board with your flathead screwdriver. When the clasps flip upward, take out the cables and place your old PSP screen aside.
Place the new PSP screen face down in the same position that the old one was in.
Attach the cables to the clasps, with the right cable in the right clasp and the left cable in the left clasp. Push the clasps down with your finger to secure them in place.
Flip the PSP screen upward and fit it into the space between the four clips. Push the clips inwards to secure the new screen.
Remove the plastic covering on the screen and place the faceplate back onto the system. Secure it with the five screws and return the battery into its slot.
