How to Fix a PSP Battery

If your Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) battery will not hold a charge, it may not be completely dead. There is a chance that you can jump start its ability to hold a charge by priming the cells against each other. Note that this will not work with every "dead" battery, especially if the battery has been physically damaged.

Things You'll Need

  • Two small wires
  • 2 inch square of aluminum foil or other light conducting material

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery from the PSP.

    • 2

Insert one end of each wire into the two terminals, one to the positive and one to the negative. Make sure that the wires do not touch one another.

    • 3

Wrap the foil around each loose end of the wires, making sure that the wires themselves do not touch.

    • 4

Allow this connection to sit for about 30 seconds.

    • 5

Remove the foil and wires, and put the battery back into the PSP. It should be able to take a charge, although you will now need to fully recharge the battery before starting your PSP.
