How Do I Watch Online Videos on the PSP?

The PSP can go online using a Wi-Fi connection but can not view YouTube videos. This is because the Flash player the PSP uses in its web browser is not compatible with the Flash player being used on YouTube. Hacking a PSP will enable it to be modified by the user in ways not provided for by Sony. Installing a program into a hacked PSP will enable it to view YouTube videos directly and without any difficulties.

Instructions

    • 1

Charge the PSP so that it has a full battery charge and upgrade to the latest firmware.

    • 2

Hack the PSP so that it can accept and use programs that will be installed (see link in References).

    • 3

Download PSPTube (see link in Resources) onto your Windows-based computer. Unzip the PSPTube zip file onto the desktop.

    • 4

Go to YouTube.com and create a new account. Give it a simple name that can be easily remembered.

    • 5

Open the PSTube folder and open the "PSPTube.cfg" file and press "Ctrl" and "F" simultaneously. Type in "Dev" and press return until you get to the line that reads "Dev id=". Insert the name of the YouTube account into the space between the parentheses.

    • 6

Connect the PSP to the computer using the USB cable and the computer's USB port. Extract the PSPTube program from the folder on the desktop and transfer it to the GAMES352 folder on the PSP.

    • 7

Disconnect the PSP from the computer. Turn the PSP on and go to the Internet connection screen from the Home screen. Select an Internet connection using the "Circle" button. Press the "Circle" button again when it says "no videos" to search for a video on YouTube to watch; use the control buttons to move between pages of YouTube and to accept or reject a video to watch.
