How to Install Internet Onto PSP

The Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) is a handheld gaming console with built-in wireless capabilities. Thanks to the addition of the on-board browser, it is possible to use the PSP as a wireless internet device. Players may use the PSP on any WLAN supported wireless network, but this feature has to be enabled through the menu functions with correct settings for the hardware components. This can be a challenge for those new to operation of the device or unfamiliar with wireless networks.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the WLAN switch on the top of the PSP to "On." This enables wireless transmission and reception for the device.

    • 2

Press the "Home" button and access network settings from the left-hand menu. These allow you to configure your wireless capabilities.

    • 3

Select "Infrastructure Mode" and set this to "Wireless Connection." You will be given the opportunity to name your connection. Name it for the location in which you will use it, such as "Home" or "Work," or list some other recognizable name.

    • 4

Choose "Scan" from the menu and wait while your PSP searches for local connections. If it is unable to find a local connection, move closer to the wireless network's source.

    • 5

Read the displayed information from the local connection and enter the password if it is a secured access point. If you do not know the password, contact the network's administrator.

    • 6

Select "Test Connection" to verify your connection status and speed. The device is fully connected once this stage completes.

    • 7

Hit the "Home" button again and go to the "Internet Browser" function that now appears on the right-hand side of the menu. You will now have full internet access for browsing.
