Connect To The Web
If you have been using the Sony PSP to play video games on your own, you may wonder why you should even bother to connect it to the Internet. While playing your PSP by yourself can certainly be very rewarding, solo play means you miss out on some of the most powerful features of the Sony PSP. When you connect your PSP to the Internet, you can play against your family members and friends or make new gaming friends from around the world.
Geting Started
Connecting your PSP to the Internet is a relatively easy and straightforward process, but it is important to start at the right point. The first step in getting your PSP connected to the Internet is to navigate to the Main Menu. There are a number of ways to do this, but the simplest method is to simply press the "Home" button on the device. This will automatically send you to the main menu, and from there you can navigate to the Network Settings section.
Network Settings
The Network Settings icon is where you will set up your Internet connection. The Sony PSP has two different settings to choose from: Ad Hoc and Infrastructure Mode. If you simply want to connect two Sony PSP devices together using a Wi-Fi connection, you would choose Ad Hoc mode. This mode will allow you to play against your friends and family. If you want to connect your Sony PSP to your Wi-Fi device, you would use Infrastructure Mode instead.
To play in Ad Hoc mode, choose Network Settings and press the "X", then choose Ad Hoc at the next screen and click the "X" again. Choose how you want to communicate with the other player, keeping in mind that both PSP units will need to use the same channel. Make sure that the WLAN switch on the PSP is set to on, choose Game from the Home menu and then Game Sharing from the Game menu.
To play in Infrastructure Mode, bring up the Main menu, click "X" and then go to the Network Settings menu and click "X" again. Select Infrastructure Mode and choose New Connection to enter the WLAN settings. Choose Scan to have the PSP automatically scan for available wireless connections Once you find the Wi-Fi connection you want, simply select it.
