How to Play Old Nintendo Games on a PS2

You can play older Nintendo Entertainment System games on your Sony Playstation Portable by downloading and installing an NES emulator. These are free programs that allow you to load and play digital copies of NES cartridges that have been converted to files called ROMs (read-only-memory files). Once you put this data on the PSP's memory stick, you will essentially have a portable NES system.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the memory stick from your PSP and place it in the memory stick slot of your PC.

    • 2

Download one of the NES emulators from the list provided below. Note that any of them will work. The differences involve the size of the programs and the extra features, so choose the programs based on your gaming needs and storage capacity.

    • 3

Unzip the file you downloaded by double-clicking on it. When it asks where to extract the files, navigate to your memory stick, and place the files in the folder marked GAMES.

    • 4

Copy and ROM files you have to the same GAMES file on your memory stick.

    • 5

Place the memory stick back in your PSP and start it as usual. From the main menu, select "Memory Stick." Then locate the name of the NES emulator you installed. Press the triangle button to start the program, then follow the on-screen instructions to start playing your games.
