How Do I Download Movies to My PSP?

Sony's PlayStation Portable is a hand-held gaming device that can also play music and movie files. Before downloading movies to your PSP, you need to consider the device's memory, necessary equipment, where to download and converters.
  1. Memory Cards

    • Install a memory card into your PSP. Flip open the slot located on the back-left side of the PSP, then insert the memory card as shown in the picture engraved inside the slot itself. Memory cards for the PSP offer storage space from as little as 512 MB to as much as 16 GB. For movies; you should have at least 1 GB of storage because movies usually take up 700 MB (the memory size of a burnable CD) or more.

    USB Data Cable

    • Attach a USB data cable between your PSP and computer. Put the larger end into the USB port of our computer while connecting the smaller end to the socket on top of the PSP. This is an integral component for your PSP, which allows the transfer of playable data, even movies, from the computer. The PSP comes bundled with a USB data cable.

    Free Video Websites

    • Search through free video websites such as Google Videos or Daily PSP Videos to get the movie you want. Google Video allows you to download pre-formatted video files for your PSP, provided you do an advanced search under the Google.com domain. Daily PSP Videos, on the other hand, offers free public domain movies to save and watch on your Sony hand-held system. While there are other free video websites out there for download besides the two mentioned, ensure that the file you are acquiring is free from copy right laws or under the creative commons; otherwise, they are illegal to download.

    Converters

    • Convert any movie files you have downloaded that are not in their proper MP4 format. There are two converters to choose from: offline and online. With the offline approach, use drag-and-drop converter programs called AVS Video Converter or Encode HD. Otherwise, use Vixy.net for the online approach, which requires users to input the HTML address of a video from a website (such as YouTube). Then select "MP4 for iPod/PSP" from the file format drop-down menu to begin the conversion process. Just like in Section 3, ensure the video you are choosing to convert is free from copy right laws or under creative commons.
