How to Beat the Congalala

Monster Hunter is a popular series of games that pits players against a variety of imagined prehistoric creatures. Unlike the enemies found in traditional hack-n-slash games, the creatures of Monster Hunter require unique and deep strategies to be defeated. One of the rarest of the beasts, the ape-like Congalala, is found in Monster Hunter 2, Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and Monster Hunter Unite. Throughout its various appearances in the series, the strategy required for its defeat remains the same.

How to Beat the Congalala
- 1
  Find the Congalala in the Jungle or Area 3. If you lose sight of the creature, search nearby areas. Eliminate any other monsters you may find while hunting.

  Use a longsword or similar weapon when attacking the Congalala. Weapons with short reach are likely to bounce off the Congalala's impenetrable belly.

  Avoid the Congalala's status attacks, which include flame breath, poison and sleep gas. The Congalala also attacks with a power three hit combo.

  Attack the head during the break between the Congalala's attacks. Remember that standing directly in front of the creature is dangerous and should be avoided when not attacking.

  Destroy the Congalala's tail for a chance to collect a machalite ore. Machalite ore is a "shiny," a rare item that is useful in crafting powerful weapons.
