How to Play UMD Movies

One great feature of Sony's PlayStation Portable gaming system is its ability to play movies in addition to games. And, with the system's media of choice--the UMD disc--the small, portable system allows users to watch DVD-quality movies on discs smaller and easier to transport than standard DVDs. Playing the discs is just as easy as operating a DVD player, but instead of using a remote control to play the movie, the PSP's buttons control the movie.

How to Play UMD Movies

  Use the PSP's directional keys to scroll to the Video icon on the main menu. The video icon looks like a movie reel.

  Locate the latch to open the disc cover where UMDs and games are inserted into the system. The latch is on the top of the system.

  Turn the UMD disc label facing the back of the system and insert the disc.

  Close the disc cover.

  Once the system reads the disc a "UMD" icon will appear on the PSP screen.

  Use the down arrow to scroll to the UMD icon and hit the "X" button to select it. This will begin playing the movie.
