Prepare the PSP
Like any major surgical operation, you'll have to prepare the patient adequately before proceeding. Because you'll be opening the device up and exposing its internal parts, it is important to clean it thoroughly before opening it up. Use a soft, damp cloth to remove any dust or particulates that might contaminate the inside of the PSP. Also make sure to remove any games in the UMD drive, the PSP's memory card, the battery door and the battery itself.
Remove the Old Faceplate
Place the PSP face down on a flat surface and use a mini screwdriver to remove the two screws from the back of the PSP. Once these have been removed, you will see two more hidden under the battery plate and the warranty sticker. Remove these as well. Set all four of these screws aside. The PSP's analog nub will now be loose. Lift it up and remove the two screws from the exposed analog unit. Then pull the current PSP face off to expose the PSP's insides.
Assemble the New Faceplate
Grab your new faceplate and then screw the analog unit back into the analog unit space. Then remove plastic face button covers from the exposed PSP and push them into their respective spaces on the new faceplate. Do the same with the row of buttons on the bottom of the device.
Put the New Faceplate On
After all the buttons have been assembled on the new faceplate, it is time to put it on the PSP. Simply place the faceplate over the PSP and then gently turn it over to replace the two screws under the battery cover. Then put the battery cover back on and replace the two external screws. You now have a new faceplate on your PSP.
