How to Add Movies to a PSP

The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a popular handheld system capable of playing a library of Sony games, as well as music. It also is capable playing MPEG-4 movies, as long as you have version 2.0 of PSP's firmware on your system. The following steps will show you how to add movies onto your PSP.

      Download and install AVS Video Converter onto your computer. This is a software which enables you to convert any video format to be compatible with the PSP.

      Open AVS Video Converter and convert your video file. When you open AVS Video Converter choose "To MPEG," then press "Browse..." to select your file. After that, go to the "Profile" drop-down menu and select any format that is less than 768 Kbps. The PSP can only play MPEG-format movies running at a bit rate lower than 768 Kbps.

      Connect the PSP and you computer together with the USB data cable. Your PSP will appear as an externally connected hard drive under your computer's drive directory.

      Browse through the PSP drive from your computer and open MP_ROOT file. Then create a folder called 101MNV01.

      Drag and drop your converted MPEG video files into the 101MNV01 directory. When you are finished, eject the PSP drive from the computer. Then disconnect the data cable between the PSP and the computer.
