How to Listen to Music While Playing Game on the PSP

The Sony PSP features more than just the ability to play games. The device can also be used as a portable music player. The downside is that custom music cannot be played while a game is running. Using custom firmware and additional software, PSP modders have been able to step around this oversight and allow any music to play during traditional game play.

Things You'll Need

  • Latest custom firmware update
  • Music plug-in
  • USB connector cable
  • Computer with Internet access

Instructions

      Download the PSP music plug-in onto your computer's desktop. Use the link in the "Additional Resources" section for the file.

    • 2

      Plug your USB cable into your PSP and computer. Power on your PSP, and go to "USB Mode" by selecting it from the far left menu column in the cross-media bar. Your memory stick will show up on your computer's display.

      Open the music plug-in file you downloaded earlier. From within this folder, select the sub-folder labeled "seplugins," and drag it into your PSP's memory stick folder.

    • 4

      Open the "seplugins" folder on your PSP memory stick, and open the file labeled "music_conf.txt". At the bottom of the document, add the following lines of text:
      DEBUG = 1
      DIR = mso:/music/
      Save the document after adding this text.
