Things You'll Need
Instructions
Visit the PSP website (see Resources) and download to your computer's desktop the latest firmware version that is available.
Connect your PSP to your computer. To do this, plug a USB cord into the top of the PSP and into the USB port on your computer. Press the left arrow key and press X once the "Settings" icon is highlighted. Scroll through the list of options and select "USB Connection."
Wait for the PSP window to open on your computer's desktop; this can take up to one minute to load. Select "View all files and folders" from the list of options in the window. From the PSP window, double-click "PSP," then "GAMES" and finally "UPDATE." If there is not an update folder already created, right-click your mouse, select "NEW" then "Folder" and name the folder "UPDATE" (in all capital letters).
Drag the file you downloaded in Step 1 into the "UPDATE" folder. Safely remove the PSP from your computer by right-clicking the green arrow icon located in your computer's desktop tray and pressing the "Stop" button.
Press the right arrow key on your PSP until the "GAMES" icon is highlighted. Scroll through the list and select the "PSP Update" icon. Follow all of the onscreen instructions, and restart your PSP when it prompts you to do so. Once the new version of firmware is installed, you will be able to play all of your games as normal without getting the 80020148 error message.
