Things You'll Need
Instructions
Run the setup disc that is included with your router. If there is no disc, check the manufacturer's website for instructions on beginning the installation procedure. After the router has been installed, open a browser on your computer and enter the IP address of the router.
Select "Wireless Settings" from the menu that will appear. Verify that you have a SSID, your location is correct, and that you are on channel 11. If your channel differs make a note of it for later.
Enable the options for a "Wireless Access Point" as well as "Allow Broadcast of SSID." Set the authentication as "Open System."
Set your encryption strength to 64 bit. This will alleviate possible connection problems. Look for the item labeled "Security Encryption (WEP) Key" and click the adjacent box labeled "Generate." Write down the key that is generated. Click "Submit" to save your settings.
Write down all the information located under "LAN TCP/IP Settings," as your PSP may ask for this information. Do the same with the information under "Router Status."
Power on your PSP and click the WLAN switch, located on the bottom of the hand-held, to the "On" position.
Select "Network Settings" from the cross media bar. On the next menu select "Infrastructure Mode" and then "New Connection." Name your new connection with a descriptive title such as "Home," "School" or "Work."
Select "Scan" from the "WLAN Settings" menu. The PSP will search for and detect your router. When your router appears, select it.
Select "WLAN Security Settings" and then select WPA or WEP and enter the key that was generated during Step 4. Ensure that the settings under "Settings List" match the information you recorded during Step 5. If incorrect make the changes to the PSP settings.
Save the settings and test your connection by pressing "X." The PSP will connect to the access point and obtain an IP address. Once completed, the key information has been exchanged and the PSP is ready for online play.
